HRES 233 IH

111th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. RES. 233

Recognizing the thousands of Freemasons in every State in the Nation and honoring them for their many contributions to the Nation throughout its history.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

March 10, 2009

Mr. LATTA (for himself, Mr. HALL of Texas, Mr. TERRY, and Mr. SKELTON) submitted the following resolution; which was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform

RESOLUTION

Recognizing the thousands of Freemasons in every State in the Nation and honoring them for their many contributions to the Nation throughout its history.

Whereas Freemasons, whose long lineage extends back to before the Nation’s founding, have set an example of high moral standards and charity for all people;

Whereas the Founding Fathers of this great Nation and signers of the Constitution, most of whom were Freemasons, provided a well-rounded basis for developing themselves and others into valuable citizens of the United States;

Whereas members of the Masonic Fraternity, both individually and as an organization, continue to make invaluable charitable contributions of service to the United States;

Whereas the Masonic Fraternity continues to provide for the charitable relief and education of the citizens of the United States;

Whereas the Masonic Fraternity is deserving of formal recognition of their long history of care-giving for the citizenry and their example of high moral standards; and

Whereas Freemasons have always revered and celebrated St. John’s Day, June 24th, as dedicated to their patron saints: Now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the House of Representatives recognizes the thousands of Freemasons in every State in the Nation and honors them for their many contributions to the Nation throughout its history.

                                          60th Annual Midwest Conference

                on Masonic Education

                        April 24-26, 2009         Springfield IL

                        Edward A. Rund, President

                        www.midwestmasoniceducation.com

BRETHREN, an Opportunity for your Lodge Educators and Intenders:

We have a great program planned for this 60th anniversary of the Midwest Conference. Also, there’s a busy and exciting Ladies’ Program. Facing our current economy I know times are difficult, but we’ve done everything we can to keep expenses down. That’s with one exception, a very special commemorative gift for the first 65 Masons who register.

With our 60th and Abe Lincoln’s birth bicentennial, we are focusing on some fun activities. The new Lincoln Museum is a must visit. The museum has received outstanding accolades since its opening a few years ago.

We also have a roster of exceptional presenters, ranging from the philosophical to the practical of Masonic Education. Our keynoter will be Rex R. Hutchens, PGM of Arizona, noted author and speaker, as well as Editor of the Heredom, the journal of the So. Jurisdiction Research Society. One of the topics he will address is his efforts at creating the now very successful “Arizona Masonic Education Academy.” We also have the prolific Ed Halpaus of Minnesota, regular “back page” contributor to the “Philalethes” Magazine, Charlie Murphy, GM of Ohio, and again Chris Hodapp with his new book, Knights Templar Code for Dummies. There will also be a team running a two-part workshop for us, and still other presenters.

There will be many learning and sharing opportunities, but also plenty of time for food, fun, fellowship and linking up with old friends. Be sure and go to the Conference’s website www.midwestmasoniceducation.com and, let’s get you registered in time. The Conference is only five weeks away.

You don’t want to miss this one. See you there

Subscibing to this blog

Subscribing to this blog is quick, easy, and free - if you are a subscriber you can automatically view new postings. If you use the Google or Yahoo blog reader, you probably already know how to do this. If you use Internet Explorer 7 here is how to do it..

First click on Tools, then Internet Options, then Content, then Feeds-Settings.If you do not have any "feeds" (blog subsciptions), you need to set one up. Make sure the "Turn on Feed reading view" box is checked. The frequency and sound boxes settings are your choice.

Next, go to this URL in Internet Explorer -- http://hoimasons.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default. You should now be looking at the blog as an "RSS Feed". Look for and click on the link in the top section "Subscibe To This Feed". In the popup window you can rename if you want - click ob the Subscibe button. You should get a message back that you were successful.

You can now use RSS Feeds - click on the "View My Feeds Link" -- the Favorites Center will open with Hoimasons as the only entry in your list. You can add other blogs later.

When you want to see the updated blog at any time click on the yellow star in the upper left hand corner
( It opens the Favorites Center window.) then Feeds to select the blog and the current contents.

Note - if you use Mozilla Thunderbird to get email, you can get blogs in email format. I could not find an equivalent feature in Outlook 2003
